As you decide to begin a new journey, you must be well prepared with all the essential requirements to open the desired gateway. Much on the same lines, to apply for a skilled migration visa to Australia, you must be in the know of the educational and professional exposure desired by the Engineers Australia (EA). CDR is your gate pass to that desired gateway. Your CDR (Competency Development Report) is something that showcases your technical acumen through the experience you bring to the table. And, EA is the assessing authority for the same.
What the EA desires out of you in the CDR can be perfectly understood from the EA Migration Skills Assessment Booklet, which comprehensively collates all guidelines.
Further to understanding the booklet, you can also connect with us at CDRreportsaustralia to assist or review your CDR requirements.
For a Petroleum Engineer wishing to apply for a skilled migration visa to Australia, it is imperative that the competency indicators, as required by the EA are fulfilled. On top of that, the CDR isn’t just a short report on your professional achievements, it has three important sections to it.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Three Career Episodes
- Summary Statement
Continuing Professional Development: As the name suggests the section requires the applicant to highlight his/her knowledge graph in the domain. It is a tabular representation of engagements/activities to upskill yourself within the domain. Workshops and seminars participated in, details of a research project, journals subscribed to, etc. Essentially the section is about your zeal to continuously grow in your functional area. To be in the know of the ever-changing scenario and stay updated.
Three Career Episodes: Each one of these Career Episodes is a 1000-2500 worded essay on a project/instance which allow you to showcase your technical acumen, leadership abilities, and work ethics. Per the EA CDR report writing guidelines, you must choose three different events for the three Essays. This enhances the scope of competencies that you can actually cover and project your scalability well. As a Petroleum Engineer read through the competency elements desired of you (in the MSA). Choose events wisely across the three Career Episodes to easily reflect most of them confidently. Do remember that the assessors want documentary evidence for what you say. So put something you can back with proofs. Moreover, Essays are to be written as a first-person “I did this”, “I led the team”, “and my role was to”. Not only does an active voice lend strength to the event, it is a representation of the tasks which only you carried. Remember that the assessors are not interested to know what the entire team did together. They want to know more about you: depth of knowledge, understanding of the changing environment, technical acumen, ability to deal with volatile scenarios etc. Every word that you put there has to grammatically correct and you must be thorough with Australian English. Do not get confused with British English there.
Mark every paragraph of the Essay properly, for correct referencing in the Summary Statement.
Summary Statement: At CDRreportsaustralia we help you bring together every section of your CDR in an impactful manner. A Summary Statement might be the shortest of the three sections but holds due relevance. Here you get to guide the assessor to the specific paragraph that showcases a certain competency indicator required for the concerned ANZSCO code. Also, the correct markings and referencing show your ability to analyze well and attention to detail. All of which is being observed.
